NAMI Fox Valley greatly appreciates the work of its volunteers who help us make the organization such a valuable community resource. We are currently seeking help in the following areas:
Front Desk Receptionist - This is a position for those who are willing and available to sub in for our agency's regularly scheduled receptionists as needed. Training is provided. Duties include greeting visitors, answering phones, taking messages and registering people for programs and classes.
Office/Clerical Help - Volunteers are needed for tasks such as photocopying and collating class materials, computer work, filing, short-term projects, or preparing mailings. Time needed is flexible.
Marketing/Public Relations - Raise and promote public awareness of NAMI Fox Valley services and classes through marketing activities and media contacts. Help is also needed with design of advertisements and posters.
Special Events - Help us plan, organize, promote and execute our special events. This is a great fit for volunteers who are creative and enjoy working with other people.
Strike Out Stigma Bowl-a-Thon - This fall fundraiser raises awareness and funds to support NAMI Fox Valley's programs and services. Volunteers are needed to help run the event. Other pre- and post-event volunteer opportunities include: recruiting sponsors, serving as a team captain, mailings, helping with the silent raffle/auction, and other jobs.
Mental Health Awareness Month - Help with one of a variety of projects planned for May to increase community recognition that mental illnesses are physical brain disorders and that treatment works.
Gardening/Maintenance - Volunteers are needed for spring and fall clean-up and periodic maintenance during summer months; small repairs; and painting projects at our main office and Iris Place Peer Run Respite.
NAMI Talks Speakers Bureau - Attend about 20 hours of training provided by NAMI to do community presentations to organizations, businesses and groups that help break down stigma and enrich audiences' understanding of mental illness. Specific presentations allow volunteers to share their stories of recovery and living well with a mental illness.
Board or Committee Work - Consider joining our board of directors or one of our specialized committees, such as our fundraising committee or events committee, for example.
Family-to-Family Facilitator - Applicants must graduate from the Family-to-Family Course, complete a separate application and attend training provided by NAMI.
Peer-to-Peer Mentor - Applicants must graduate from the Peer-to-Peer Course, complete a separate application and complete training provided by NAMI.
Support Group Facilitator - Applicants must be attending a NAMI support group. Must complete a separate application and attend training provided by NAMI.
